See What People Are Saying

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."  Acts 2:38

Steps to Salvation

In the book of Acts, after Jesus had ascended into heaven, the people were in the upper room praying and waiting for Him to pour out His Spirit as he had directed.  Acts 2: 3, 4 says, "And there appeared unto them a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."  When they were speaking in this heavenly language, others thought they were drunk.  Peter quickly explained that they were not drunk, but that God had poured out His Spirit, and he expounded on the things of God.  The people's hearts were convicted and they asked Peter and the apostles what they should do.  As you see in Acts 2: 38, Peter said they must first repent, which means turning away from the sin in their lives and asked forgiveness from God.  True repentance means that we will not return to those sins, and that we will repent daily in prayer for anything that may have caused us to fall.  Peter also said that we must be baptized in the name of Jesus.  When our hearts are clean and ready for Him, Jesus will pour out His Spirit, which is the gift of the Holy Ghost, and we will know we have received this great gift because we will speak in a heavenly language, just as they did in the New Testament.  What then?

Walking in Obedience

Once you have repented, been baptized in Jesus name, and filled with the Holy Ghost, the next step is to spend time with God, getting to know Him through prayer, the study of the Word of God, and hearing the preaching of the Word.  The more you get to know Him, you will find that you want to obey His commandments and please Him in all that you do.  You will realize that He is a faithful Father, a constant friend, a counselor, a comforter, your provider and protector, and you will love Him.  He is holy, and it is His desire that we would be holy unto Him, as stated in 1 Peter 1: 16.  Holiness is mentioned 546 times in the Bible, which demonstrates the importance of holiness.  Although there will be trying times while trying to live for Him, just hold on and He will see you through.  After all, He has a purpose for your life!

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."  Acts 1: 8

Doing the Will of God

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He left specific instructions for those He left behind.  In addition to telling them to pray and wait for Him to pour out His Spirit, He tells them in Acts 1: 8 that they are to be witnesses throughout the earth and tell people about Him.  Jesus does so many wonderful things for people, from healing to delivering, to miracles of protection and provision, to speaking encouragement through His Word or through the preached Word.  He wants us to tell others of all that He has done so that they might be saved and live an‚Äč everlasting life with Him!
